Decyl Glucoside is a nonionic alkyl polyglucoside (APG) produced by fermenting corn or potato glucose with C8-C16 coconut fatty alcohol. INCI: Decyl Glucoside. A liquid ingredient with a very mild detergent action. In cosmetics it works as a primary or co-surfactant in cleansers, micellar solutions, sensitive-skin shampoos and baby products. By harshness it belongs to the ULTRA_MILD class – milder than betaines and sarcosinates. Biodegradable, suitable for eco-formulas. Use levels run from 5 to 25% active material. Pregnancy safety. There is no systemic absorption from rinse-off use. CIR rates APGs as acceptable. Skin profile. Very low irritation potential. Low allergen risk, but the literature describes isolated cases of contact dermatitis (often cross-sensitization with lauryl glucoside). Non-comedogenic. Suitable for sensitive, atopic skin and children. No active cosmetic effects, but by acting ultra-mildly it provides the least aggressive cleansing base.
