Modern emollient, safe.
Diethoxyethyl Succinate is a synthetic ester of succinic acid with ethoxyethanol. A light emollient with a non-greasy texture, replaces silicones in 'silicone-free' marketed formulas. Mechanism. On skin it provides dry distribution, leaves no greasy film, spreads well. In formulas it works as a solvent for oil-soluble actives, UV filters, pigment carrier in color cosmetics. An emollient-functional component with no active skin pharmacology. Where applied. Light-texture sunscreens, facial fluids, oily and combination skin creams, foundations, 'non-greasy' labeled products. In Spain – ISDIN, Heliocare, La Roche-Posay Anthelios Fluide, Mesoestetic Photoderm Pro. Evidence base. A functional component with relatively recent adoption. Sensory characteristics (lightness, dry glide) confirmed in standard formulation tests. No active skin pharmacology. Safety. CIR has not issued a direct evaluation. By the profile of related succinate esters – safety is normal. Non-comedogenic, non-irritating, allergies rare. Pregnancy and lactation – safe at standard cosmetic concentrations. Best suited to: any skin type. Especially interesting in oily and combination skin formulas, facial sunscreens. A solid silicone replacement.
