Diisopropyl Sebacate is a diester of isopropyl alcohol and sebacic acid (C10). INCI: Diisopropyl Sebacate. A colorless oily liquid with very low viscosity and a dry sensorial profile. It is often used as a replacement for cyclomethicone D5 in formulas positioned as silicone-free. In cosmetics it works as a solvent for oil-soluble actives and UV filters, and as a sensorial modifier. It reduces the viscosity of heavier oils and gives quick absorption. Use levels run from 2 to 25%; in sunscreens up to 30% as part of the oil phase. Pregnancy safety. Skin absorption into the systemic circulation is minimal. CIR rates the safety profile as acceptable. Skin profile. Low irritation and allergen potential. Non-comedogenic. Suitable for normal, combination and oily skin. On very dry skin without support from heavier emollients it may leave a feeling of tightness. There are no active effects.
