Glyceryl Laurate (Monolaurin) is the monoglyceride of lauric acid. An emollient with additional mild antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. Where applied. Creams and lotions (0.1-3%), deodorants, hair products, acne-prone skin formulas. Often combined with caprylic acid and caprylhydroxamic acid for broader antimicrobial coverage. Mechanism. Dissolves bacterial membranes, disrupts the envelope of Cutibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus. On skin it works as a functional ingredient: emollient plus preservative booster. Safety. CIR confirmed safety. Some very sensitive patients may have mild irritation. Non-comedogenic at standard concentrations. Pregnancy and lactation – safe.
