Hydrogenated Coconut Oil is coconut oil partially or fully saturated with hydrogen. Texture is a solid wax-like fat melting at 30-40°C, which is above skin temperature. Where applied. Balms, butters, solid soaps, shampoo bars, cleansing balms for makeup removal, sticks, lipsticks. Provides dense texture and long shelf life – the product oxidizes less than regular coconut oil. In Spain in Garnier Skin Active cleansing balms, Babaria hair care, Lush solid shampoos. Safety. CIR rated hydrogenated coconut oil safe at current cosmetic concentrations (2008, re-evaluated 2017). Irritation is rare. Coconut allergy is possible in patients reactive to latex and tropical fruits but clinically uncommon. Comedogenicity. Pure coconut oil is considered comedogenic (4-5 on Klein's scale), and hydrogenation largely keeps lauric and myristic acids – the main pore-clogging triggers. Use with caution on acne-prone facial skin; no restriction on body and hair. Pregnancy and lactation – safe topically.
