Neutralized Carbomer is a synthetic polymer of acrylic acid neutralized by alkali (NaOH, TEA, arginine) to form a gel structure. In cosmetics – thickener, emulsion stabilizer, gel-former. Mechanism. Forms transparent stable gels in aqueous systems. Retains water and active components in the formula, provides a pleasant texture. Unlike the parent carbomer (carbomer 940), ready for inclusion in formulas without additional neutralization. Where applied. Face and body gels, serums, toners, aftershaves, hair gels. Concentration 0.1–2%. Evidence base. No clinical RCTs required – a functional gel-former. CIR confirmed safety of all carbomers and neutralized forms. Safety. Hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, non-irritating. Pregnancy and lactation – topically safe. Safe for children's and infant cosmetics.

Neutralized Carbomer is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
