Plum Seed Extract (Prunus Domestica Seed Extract) is an oily or glycolic extract from common plum seeds. Contains unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic, oleic), tocopherols, polyphenols (chlorogenic, neochlorogenic acids). Where applied. Anti-aging serums and creams (0.5-3%), masks, hair products. Often marketed as a "natural antioxidant". Evidence base. In vitro shows antioxidant activity of the extract. No clinical topical RCTs of standalone skin activity in humans. Most data relate to systemic plum extract use in cardiovascular disease, unrelated to skin. Safety. Hypoallergenic. Theoretical cross-reactivity with other Rosaceae (almond, apricot, peach, cherry), clinically rare. Pregnancy and lactation – topical use at cosmetic concentrations is considered acceptable, but no direct pregnancy studies.
