Sorbitan Olivate is a non-ionic emulsifier ester of sorbitol and olive-oil fatty acids. On its own it is a weak emulsifier and works only paired with Cetearyl Olivate – together they form the well-known natural Olivem 1000 system. Mechanism. The blend mimics skin-barrier lipid structure and produces stable liquid-crystalline emulsions. Texture is soft, without greasy residue, with a characteristic 'lipid' feel.
