Volatile silicone with very low viscosity. Gives an instant dry slip and evaporates quickly without leaving a film. Common in sunscreens and primers for a soft-focus effect. Pregnancy-safe.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
Functional volatile silicone without active effects. Safety confirmed by CIR. EU restrictions on D4/D5 do not apply to trisiloxane.
Trisiloxane is a linear volatile silicone with three silicon atoms. INCI: Trisiloxane. It is produced by condensation of methylchlorosilanes followed by purification. It is used as a solvent for other silicones and as a sensorial modifier. In cosmetics it works as a dry emollient: the molecule is too large to penetrate the stratum corneum, so it stays on the surface, gives a silky slip, and evaporates within a few minutes of application. It is especially valued in sunscreens – it improves the spread of mineral filters and reduces the white cast. Use levels run from 1 to 15%. Pregnancy safety. There is no systemic absorption – the ingredient evaporates from the skin surface. CIR rates the safety profile as acceptable. Unlike the cyclic silicones D4 and D5, trisiloxane is not subject to EU restrictions for endocrine effects. Skin profile. Low irritation and allergen potential. Non-comedogenic. Suitable for all skin types. It has no standalone active effects – purely a sensorial component. In formulas for oily and combination skin it helps create a matte finish without greasy shine.

The Evigrade extension adds an evidence panel to Wildberries, Goldapple, Letu, iHerb, Sephora and 12 more stores. This ingredient and every other one in the product show evidence-tier, allergen risk and pregnancy/lactation flags at a glance.
Trisiloxane is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
Trisiloxane suits: normal, dry, combination, oily, sensitive.
Volatile silicone with very low viscosity.
On the Fulton scale 0/5 – non-comedogenic. For acne-prone skin, a rating of 3 or higher suggests choosing an alternative.
The INCI name is Trisiloxane. It may also appear as: Hexamethyldisiloxane derivative, Трисилоксан.
