eGFR — CKD-EPI 2021 (race-free)

Estimates glomerular filtration rate using the CKD-EPI 2021 creatinine equation. This is the race-free version recommended in the United States and compatible with KDIGO 2024.

About this calculator

The CKD-EPI 2021 equation replaced the 2009 version and is used to stage chronic kidney disease in adults. The NKF-ASN task force recommended removing the race coefficient in 2021. The formula applies to adults ≥ 18 years old. Pediatric and pregnant patients need different equations. Results are interpreted by KDIGO stages G1–G5 alongside albuminuria assessment.
