Strontium Hydroxide (INCI Strontium Hydroxide) is a strong inorganic alkali used at very low levels in a formula. Its job is purely technical: it adjusts the pH of a product to the target value and neutralises acidic ingredients during manufacturing. On efficacy the picture is simple. This is a functional pH adjuster, not a skincare active. It has no independent effect on the skin in a finished product, because once neutralisation is done its work inside the recipe is over. Strontium salts are sometimes added for a soothing feel, but in the pH-regulator role we are talking about a production function. There is no reason for caution during pregnancy or breastfeeding. In the finished product the compound sits in a bound form at a minimal concentration and is not absorbed through the skin systemically, so it can be used. Tolerance is good. In a correctly balanced formula the irritation potential is low and the allergy risk is low, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. The only real concern is the concentrated raw material on the production line, not the final product.
