Mechanism
Selegiline at high doses loses MAO-B selectivity and inhibits MAO-A. Serotonin syndrome risk with triptans.
Symptoms
Agitation, tachycardia, hypertension.
Management
The AEMPS label for selegiline lists the combination with triptans as contraindicated because of serotonin syndrome. For a migraine attack on selegiline, use paracetamol or an NSAID.
