Aminomethyl Propanol (AMP) is a pH adjuster used in very small fractions. Its job is to neutralize and tune the acidity of the formula, mainly to activate carbomer-type thickeners and reach the right gel texture. On efficacy: a purely functional ingredient, not a skincare active. It sets the product to the correct pH for stability and feel, but once neutralized in the finished product it gives no direct skin effect. Don't expect anything beyond its technical role. Topical use during pregnancy and breastfeeding poses no problem at use concentrations. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential in the finished product, where it's neutralized and at skin pH. The concentrated raw material is alkaline, but that doesn't apply to the final cosmetic. Suitable for sensitive skin.
