INCI: Adansonia Digitata Fruit Extract
Extract of African baobab fruit. Rich in vitamin C and polysaccharides. Works as humectant and antioxidant on skin.
Topical application
DVery weak or conflicting data.
Botanical antioxidant with traditional African use. No modern topical RCTs available.
Baobab Fruit Extract (Adansonia digitata fruit extract) is a water or glycolic extract of the dried pulp of African baobab fruit. Contains vitamin C (six-fold more than orange per unit mass, Sidibe 2002), pectins, amino acids, flavonoids. Mechanism. On skin it acts as a humectant (polysaccharides and amino acids draw water into the stratum corneum) and a mild antioxidant (vitamin C and flavonoids scavenge free radicals). Vitamin C concentration in the cosmetic extract is usually low, so the real anti-aging signal comes from other actives in the formula. Where applied. Hydrating serums and creams (0.5–3%), masks, products with an 'African botanicals' angle. In Spain found in niche natural cosmetics lines (Naobay, Freshly Cosmetics), imported African and South African brands. Rare in pharmacy dermocosmetics. Evidence base. Direct topical RCTs on baobab fruit extract are scarce. Vertuani 2002 showed in vitro antioxidant activity. Most publications focus on dietary use of the pulp as a source of vitamin C and prebiotic polysaccharides – not transferable to cosmetics. Safety. Irritation and allergy reports are sporadic. No direct CIR monograph, but baobab oil and pulp extract are considered safe at cosmetic concentrations. In pregnancy – safe topically. No direct lactation data; the risk is purely theoretical. Realistic assessment. A pleasant marketing ingredient for 'natural' lines. Real skin effect depends on extract form and the base formula. For proven antioxidant protection and brightening, L-ascorbic acid 10–20% or THD ascorbate carry stronger evidence.

The Evigrade extension adds an evidence panel to Wildberries, Goldapple, Letu, iHerb, Sephora and 12 more stores. This ingredient and every other one in the product show evidence-tier, allergen risk and pregnancy/lactation flags at a glance.
Baobab Fruit Extract is considered safe during pregnancy at typical cosmetic concentrations. Systemic absorption through the skin is minimal.
