C12-18 acid triglyceride (INCI: C12-18 Acid Triglyceride) is a waxy ester built from glycerin and medium-to-long-chain fatty acids. In a formula it works as an emollient and gives creams and sticks body and density. This is a functional component, not a skincare active. Its job is texture and a softer feel: skin glides smooth after application and the oil phase holds its structure. Don't expect a corrective effect, that isn't its role. In topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without trouble. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Its comedogenicity is moderate (around 2), so oily and acne-prone skin should watch how it responds and avoid overloading on products heavy in these waxes.
