In a formula they soften skin, add density to a cream and give a cared-for, wrapping finish. This is a functional emollient component, not a treatment active. Its role is texture and feel: skin stays soft and the cream has body. Because it comes from olive, it keeps some lipid affinity with skin, but the effect is about comfort, not transformation. In topical use it poses no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without trouble. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Its comedogenicity is moderate (around 2), so oily or acne-prone skin should watch the response and avoid formulas overloaded with waxes.
