Hydrogenated palm kernel glycerides (INCI Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Glycerides) are derived from palm kernel oil treated by hydrogenation. In a formula they work both as an emollient that softens skin and as an emulsifier or co-emulsifier that helps keep the water-oil blend stable. Their role is functional and textural, not treatment. They give softness and structure to creams and butters, but they do not act on wrinkles, pigment or inflammation. They do their job reliably. Systemic exposure from topical use is negligible, so they can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy risk are low, suitable for sensitive skin. Comedogenicity is very low (1 out of 5), so problems are rare, though very oily skin can watch how it responds. They do not dry the skin.
