C15-19 Alkane is a medium-chain linear hydrocarbon from renewable plant feedstock. INCI: C15-19 Alkane. In a formula it works as a dry emollient: it gives a light slip without a greasy film, softens skin, and serves as a plant-based replacement for silicones and mineral oil in clean formulas. It is a functional sensory component, not a skincare active. It is stable and does not oxidize as fast as plant oils. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is low and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, it is non-comedogenic, and it suits sensitive skin.
