A functional emollient. Safe.
Hydrogenated Farnesene is a light plant-derived emollient, made from farnesene produced by fermentation and then hydrogenated. It softens skin and leaves a dry slip, a renewable alternative to light mineral oils. This is a functional component, not an active. It works on texture and feel: it gives a soft touch, helps the formula spread, and leaves a non-greasy finish. It has no corrective effect on wrinkles, tone, or pigmentation. Its action is limited to the skin surface, with no meaningful systemic absorption, so it is compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is very good, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk, suitable for sensitive skin. Comedogenicity is very low (1), so it rarely causes trouble even on skin prone to shine.
