A waxy emollient from jojoba oil. It softens, structures sticks and creams and gives a protective film. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A functional emollient. Safe; oily skin watches the heavy film.
Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil is jojoba oil that has undergone hydrogenation, which turns it into a soft wax. In cosmetics it acts as an emollient and structuring agent: it softens skin, gives consistency to sticks and balms and forms a protective film that limits water loss. This is a functional texture ingredient, though with a real emollient touch. It gives a silky feel and helps seal in hydration, but it is better seen as support for the formula than as a treatment active. It does not fix skin problems on its own. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good. Irritation and allergy potential are low, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. Its comedogenicity rating is only 1, so the risk of clogging pores is low even on combination skin.
