About this ingredient
Candelilla/Jojoba/Rice Bran Polyglyceryl-3 Esters is a blend of plant-derived esters made by combining candelilla wax, jojoba and rice bran with polyglycerol. The result is a waxy ingredient that acts as an emollient and structuring agent: it softens the skin and gives body and consistency to balms, sticks and rich creams. It is a functional component, not a treatment active. Its role is texture and emolliency; it does not correct specific skin signs. It provides that enveloping feel and the formula firmness wanted in stick or fairly dense products. For topical use there is no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin. Its comedogenicity is moderate (2 out of 5). On oily or acne-prone skin it is worth judging the whole formula and watching the response, since waxy blends can be somewhat occlusive at high concentrations.
