BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A nourishing plant oil. Safe.
Canola Oil is a plant oil from rapeseed, rich in unsaturated fatty acids, mainly oleic and linoleic. In a formula it acts as an emollient: it nourishes, softens and leaves a film that reduces water loss. You see it in creams, body oils and nourishing formulas for dry skin. This is a functional emollient with a fatty-acid profile useful for skin comfort, especially through its linoleic content, which is akin to the barrier. It is not a treatment active with marked biological action but a good supporting oil that adds nourishment and feel. With topical use it has no systemic relevance, so you can use it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy are both low, and it suits sensitive skin. Its comedogenicity is moderate (level 2), so on oily or acne-prone skin it is worth introducing with some caution and watching how the skin responds.
