Triolein (INCI: Triolein) is a triglyceride made of glycerol and three oleic acid molecules, naturally present in many plant oils. In formulas it works as an oily emollient that nourishes, softens and reduces water loss in dry skin. This is a functional emollient component. It brings comfort and a rich feel, and oleic acid integrates well into skin lipids, but it is not a targeted active against wrinkles or spots. Its value is in texture and nourishment. Applied topically it has no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy risk. Comedogenicity is moderate (2) due to the oleic acid content, so on oily or acne-prone skin it is better used with some caution; on dry or normal skin it brings comfort without trouble.
