Rice bran wax (INCI: Oryza Sativa Bran Wax) is a plant wax obtained from rice bran. In a formula it gives body to the texture, helps structure sticks and balms, and forms a light protective film that reduces water loss. It is a functional ingredient, a texture agent rather than a treatment active. It does not fix wrinkles or pigmentation; its job is to give consistency and a soft feel. In that role it performs well and is a common plant-based alternative to other waxes. Applied topically it is not meaningfully absorbed, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. Its comedogenic rating is very low (1), so it rarely causes problems, even on oily-prone skin.
