Nourishing plant lipids. Safe.
Rice lipids (INCI: Oryza Sativa Lipids) are the fatty fraction drawn from the rice grain, rich in fatty acids and compounds close to the skin's own lipids. In a formula they act as an emollient: they soften, add slip and help support the skin barrier. As an active they play a supporting role. They give comfort and reinforce the lipid film that holds water, which helps dry or tight skin, but they are not a targeted treatment for wrinkles or dark spots. The evidence backs them more as a conditioner than as a hero active. They can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding: applied topically they carry no systemic significance. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Comedogenicity is very low (1), so oily or acne-prone skin may want to watch how it reacts, though problems are rare.
