A light emollient. Safe.
Ethyl Macadamiate is an ester of macadamia-oil fatty acids and ethyl alcohol. INCI: Ethyl Macadamiate. In a formula it works as a light dry emollient: it softens skin, gives a silky non-greasy slip, absorbs quickly, and helps spread oils and actives. It is a functional sensory component, not a skincare active. It suits light textures and skin and hair products. Pregnancy safety. Systemic absorption through intact skin is low and there is no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low; the refined ester contains little nut allergen protein.
