Ethylhexyl Cocoate (INCI Ethylhexyl Cocoate) is an ester of coconut fatty acids and ethylhexyl alcohol. In a formula it works as a light emollient: it softens the skin, gives a non-greasy silky glide, helps spread the product evenly and improves the sensory feel of a cream. On efficacy, this is a functional texture ingredient, not a skincare active. It does its job well: it makes the consistency pleasant and removes stickiness. No deep caring action should be expected from it; its role is application comfort and softening the skin surface. During pregnancy and breastfeeding it can be used. Applied topically it is systemically negligible, with no restrictions. Tolerance is good. The irritation potential is low, the allergy risk is low, and it suits sensitive skin. Given a comedogenicity of around 2, people with oily and acne-prone skin should watch their reaction, while on dry and normal skin the ester behaves calmly.
