Rice amino acids (INCI: Rice Amino Acids) are made by hydrolyzing rice proteins down to free amino acids. In a formula they work as humectants and as part of the skin's natural moisturizing factor: they draw water, help keep it at the surface and leave a soft feel. As actives they are good supporting humectants. They boost the feel of comfortable, supple skin, handy in daily hydration formulas, but they are not a targeted treatment against wrinkles or spots. In their humectant role they perform soundly. Topically they have no meaningful systemic absorption, so they can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is very good, with low irritation and allergy potential. They suit sensitive skin and rarely cause a reaction.
