INCI: Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil
A carrot seed oil with antioxidants. It nourishes skin and supports defense. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A nourishing plant oil. Safe.
Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil is the oil from carrot seeds, rich in fatty acids and antioxidant compounds. In a formula it acts as a nourishing emollient: it softens the skin, leaves a comfortable film and gives some protection against oxidative stress. It is used in facial oils, nourishing creams and anti-aging formulas. This is a functional emollient with antioxidant interest. The nourishing and sensory part is clear; the claimed anti-aging effect, by contrast, is supporting and the direct skin evidence is modest, so it is better seen as a good oil with an antioxidant bonus than as a standalone treatment. With topical use it has no systemic relevance, so you can use it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy are both low, and it suits sensitive skin. Its comedogenicity is very low (level 1). As a botanical oil, people with plant allergies should patch-test it on a small area first.
