Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
An antioxidant plant juice. Safe.
Carrot juice (INCI Daucus Carota Sativa Juice) is the pressed liquid of the root, with water-soluble vitamins, sugars and carotenoids. In a formula it provides a watery base with some antioxidant and hydrating profile: the carotenoids help against oxidative stress and the sugars hold a little water at the surface. On efficacy, it is a supporting component in the antioxidant and hydration categories. The concentration of actives in a juice is usually low and variable, so it is realistic to see it as a formula adjunct rather than an active with defined results. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, suitable for sensitive skin. Already-sensitized people may see an occasional reaction, though most do not.
