A lychee pericarp extract with polyphenols. It supports the skin's antioxidant defense. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
An antioxidant plant extract. Safe.
Litchi pericarp extract (INCI Litchi Chinensis Pericarp Extract) comes from the rind of the lychee fruit. In a formula it works as an antioxidant ingredient: lychee rind is rich in polyphenols and proanthocyanidins that help the skin resist oxidative stress from the environment. On efficacy this is a supporting botanical antioxidant. Lychee polyphenols show decent antioxidant activity in lab tests, but clinical skin data is limited, so realistically expect a mild protective contribution within a formula. Used topically the extract has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without restriction. Tolerance is good. The irritation and allergy potential is low, which suits sensitive skin. Most people show no reaction.
