Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
An antioxidant plant extract. Safe.
Tea flower extract (INCI Camellia Sinensis Flower Extract) comes from the flowers of the same plant that gives green and black tea. In a formula it works as an antioxidant and soothing ingredient: it contains polyphenols and saponins that help the skin cope with oxidative stress from external factors. On efficacy this is a supporting botanical antioxidant. Tea polyphenols have a decent reputation for protecting against free radicals, but the flower extract is less studied than the leaf, so realistically expect a mild antioxidant contribution rather than a pronounced action. Used topically the extract has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without restriction. Tolerance is good. The irritation and allergy potential is low, which suits sensitive skin. Most people show no reaction.
