An antioxidant plant extract. Safe.
Green tea leaf extract is obtained from the Camellia plant. INCI: Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract. In a formula it works as an antioxidant and soothing component: it contains catechin polyphenols, chiefly EGCG, that neutralize free radicals and show anti-inflammatory potential. Green tea polyphenols have a fair antioxidant base, but the extract's strength depends on the concentration of catechins and their stability in the formula. It is a useful supporting active for protection from oxidative stress and for sensitive skin. Pregnancy safety. Topical use is systemically negligible, with no evidence of harm. It can be used during pregnancy and lactation. Tolerance. Irritation and allergen potential are low, suitable for sensitive skin.
