A soothing plant water. Safe.
Green tea leaf water (INCI: Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water) is a water phase obtained from Camellia sinensis leaf, carrying polyphenols such as catechins at low concentrations. It is used as a water base with a mild soothing and antioxidant contribution. On efficacy, it helps to calibrate expectations. Green tea polyphenols have proven antioxidant activity, but in a leaf water the concentration is usually low, so here it acts more as a supporting component than as a strong antioxidant active. A marked effect needs concentrated, standardized extracts. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is very good: low irritation potential and low allergy risk, suitable for sensitive and reactive skin. Its soothing profile fits well in formulas meant for skin that irritates easily. At usual concentrations it does not dry or clog pores.
