Neem seed extract (INCI: Melia Azadirachta Seed Extract) comes from the seeds of the neem tree, rich in compounds such as limonoids. In cosmetics it helps slow microbial growth and gives a soothing feel, so it is common in formulas for oily or acne-prone skin. This is a functional supporting ingredient. Its antimicrobial effect at the formula level is reasonable, but as an acne treatment with solid clinical backing it is limited. It works as support, not as the main active against acne. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Good tolerance: low risk of irritation and allergy, fine for sensitive and oily skin.
