Rose flower extract (INCI Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract) is obtained from the petals of the hundred-leaved rose. In cosmetics it adds a soothing note, supports surface hydration and often comes with a natural floral scent in the formula. On efficacy this is a supporting extract with a sensory, softening character. It adds skin comfort, but it is not an active with proven corrective results on wrinkles or pigmentation; the clinical evidence base is modest. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good: low irritation and allergy potential. Keep in mind that floral extracts carry trace aromatic substances, so on very reactive skin or with fragrance allergy a patch test is useful, though most people do not react.
