BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A moisturizing plant extract. Safe.
Lespedeza capitata extract (INCI: Lespedeza Capitata Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract) is a plant extract rich in flavonoids. In cosmetics it is linked to water retention and a soothing effect, so it appears in moisturizers and formulas for reactive skin that aim for comfort and a plump feel. As an active it is supporting. Flavonoids are credited with antioxidant action and, in some studies, help with hydration, but the concrete clinical base for this extract is modest. A reasonable comfort contribution is realistic rather than strong hydration on its own. For topical use there is no relevant systemic risk. It can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential, fine for sensitive skin. It is not noted as comedogenic or drying.
