A plant extract. Safe.
Tropaeolum Majus Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract is the extract of nasturtium from the flower, leaf and stem. The plant provides vitamin C, flavonoids and sulphur compounds, a profile with some antioxidant and refreshing capacity. In cosmetics it is added to comfort the skin and give a sense of freshness. As an active it is supporting. Its specific evidence base in cosmetics is limited; the ingredient mainly plays a mild soothing and botanical-image role. Reasonable as a complement in formulas for dull or reactive skin, without expecting a marked treatment effect. For topical use it is not meaningfully absorbed, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without restriction. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy potential are low, with no comedogenicity rating. It suits sensitive and oily skin. As with any plant extract, an individual reaction is possible though uncommon; it is worth watching how the skin responds over the first applications.
