A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Echinacea purpurea extract (INCI: Echinacea Purpurea Extract) is a botanical that supplies polysaccharides and phenolic compounds. In a formula it is used to calm the feel of skin and support its defence, mostly in products for reactive skin. On efficacy: its soothing and antioxidant profile has some grounding in lab studies, while direct clinical evidence on skin stays modest. We place it as a supporting soothing active, not a proven treatment. It does its job inside a well-built formula. In topical use it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without any foreseeable risk. Tolerance is usually good, with low irritation and allergy potential. Echinacea belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae), so people allergic to that family could react; for everyone else, trouble is uncommon.
