A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Achillea Millefolium Extract is the plant extract of yarrow. It provides flavonoids, tannins and essential oils, with a make-up linked to a soothing and mildly astringent effect. In cosmetics it is used to comfort the skin, especially in products for reactive or combination skin. As an active it is supporting. It has some traditional grounding as a soothing plant, but specific clinical data in cosmetics are limited. Reasonable as a secondary ingredient that helps calm and balance the feel of the skin, not as a treatment active with a marked effect. For topical use it is not meaningfully absorbed, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without restriction. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy potential are low, with no comedogenicity rating. It suits sensitive and oily skin. One note: yarrow belongs to the Asteraceae family, so people allergic to that family (daisy, chamomile, ragweed) could react; in that case it is better to avoid it or patch-test a small area first.
