Arnica flower extract (INCI Arnica Montana Flower Extract) is a botanical extract drawn from the flowers of this mountain plant. It contains sesquiterpene lactones and flavonoids. In cosmetics it is added mainly for a soothing profile, to give skin a sense of comfort and ease the look of redness after mild irritation. On efficacy, it acts as a supporting component within the soothing category. There is a long tradition of topical use, but evidence for cosmetic claims stays modest, so it is fair to treat it as a formula adjunct rather than a lead active.
