A Tasmanian pepper plant extract. It soothes and lowers skin sensitivity. Well tolerated.
Topical application
BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
A soothing plant extract. Safe.
Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract is the extract of Tasmanian pepper, rich in polyphenols such as anthocyanins and polygodial. It's used in serums and creams with a soothing profile for reactive skin. On efficacy: in vitro data show its polyphenols modulate inflammatory mediators and may reduce the perception of sensitive skin, which supports its use as a supporting soother. In practice it works as an adjunct within an anti-irritation formula; the effect is plausible but modest, and human clinical evidence is still limited. Don't expect first-line active results. Topical use during pregnancy and breastfeeding poses no problem. Tolerance is high, with low irritation and allergy potential. Despite the name pepper, at cosmetic levels it doesn't cause the sting of the spice. Suitable for sensitive skin, with a patch test reasonable for very reactive skin.
