A soothing antioxidant extract. Safe.
Cistus incanus extract (INCI: Cistus Incanus Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract) comes from a Mediterranean shrub rich in polyphenols and flavonoids. In formulas it offers a soothing and antioxidant action, useful in serums and creams aimed at reactive skin or skin under environmental stress. As an active it is a supporting component with some basis: cistus polyphenols show antioxidant activity in vitro, which backs its role as a complement to free-radical defense. Even so, it does not replace anti-aging actives with stronger evidence. Applied topically it has no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy risk, which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. As a polyphenol-rich plant extract, very sensitized skin could react in isolated cases, though most people see nothing.
