In a formula it softens skin and leaves a lasting protective film without drying. As an emollient and light occlusive it works reliably, and its stable profile is a practical edge over oils that go rancid fast. It is a solid skincare component, though its main job is to nourish and seal in moisture rather than act as an anti-aging active. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good. Irritation and allergy risk are low and comedogenicity is very low (1 out of 5), so most skin types, including combination, handle it well.
