Cloudberry extract (Rubus Chamaemorus Cloudberry Fruit Extract) is an extract from the fruit of a northern berry that grows on the bogs of Scandinavia, Finland, northern Russia, and Alaska. Contains high concentrations of ellagic acid (a polyphenol with antioxidant potential), vitamin C (4× higher than oranges), vitamin E, omega-3 fatty acids. Where applied. Anti-aging serums and creams with 'arctic berries' marketing (0.1-2%), mature-skin products, dull-skin products. Reaches the Spanish market through Scandinavian brands and niche natural lines. Evidence base. In vitro ellagic acid shows antioxidant activity and potential inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP). Topical clinical RCTs in humans with cloudberry extract are essentially absent. Marketing rests on lab models and the general reputation of ellagic acid. Safety. EU CosIng permits use. Allergic reactions are rare. Non-comedogenic. People with Rosaceae allergy (raspberry, strawberry, blackberry) – use with caution. Pregnancy and lactation – data are limited. A natural food product, no systemic absorption through intact skin. No formal restrictions, but due to lack of data manufacturers label it UNKNOWN.
