Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (INCI: Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside) is a stabilized derivative of EGCG, the main green tea catechin. Linking it to glucoside improves stability over pure EGCG, which oxidizes easily. It is used as an antioxidant in anti-aging and protective formulas. On efficacy, EGCG has a well-studied in-vitro antioxidant profile and supporting data on skin. It is a reasonable active, though it is best placed as antioxidant support rather than a transforming ingredient. It adds to a routine without replacing photoprotection or retinoids. Applied topically it poses no systemic risk, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is high, with low irritation potential and low allergy risk. It suits sensitive skin and has no notable comedogenic profile.
