Acetyl zingerone (INCI: Acetyl Zingerone) is a synthetic antioxidant inspired by a compound from ginger. In cosmetics it is added to neutralize free radicals and support the skin's defence against external factors such as pollution and light. Efficacy here has a better basis than many accessory antioxidants. There are studies describing its antioxidant action and stability, with interest in its role against oxidative stress. Even so, it is best placed as a support ingredient within a routine: it complements photoprotection and the main actives, it does not replace them. Topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy potential. It suits sensitive skin and pairs well with vitamin C or other antioxidants in daytime serums.
