BLimited evidence. One RCT or several controlled studies with limitations.
An antioxidant plant extract. Safe.
Kiwi fruit extract (INCI: Actinidia Chinensis Fruit Extract) comes from kiwi pulp and contains vitamin C, mild fruit acids and other antioxidant compounds. In cosmetics it is added to serums and creams with an antioxidant and tone-brightening focus. As an active it is a supporting component. The fruit's vitamin C is present in low, fairly unstable amounts compared with pure ascorbic forms, so the extract adds to a formula's antioxidant defense without matching a dedicated active. Useful as a complement, not as the lead piece. Applied topically it has no meaningful systemic absorption, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tolerance is good, with low irritation and allergy risk. Because of the fruit acids, very reactive skin might feel a slight tingle at high concentrations; in most cosmetic formulas it causes no discomfort.
