An anti-aging plant extract. Well tolerated; independent data limited.
Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract is the extract from the bark of the silk tree (albizia). In cosmetics it became popular in anti-ageing formulas for the eye area, where the manufacturer links it to more firmness and tone and to reducing signs of fatigue. On efficacy a caveat is in order. There are brand studies with striking results, but independent data confirming them are scarce. It is a supporting active with a modest evidence base: reasonable within an anti-ageing routine, useful as a complement, without the solidity of better-documented actives. Effects, when they appear, are subtle and gradual. For topical use it is not meaningfully absorbed, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without restriction. Tolerance is good: irritation and allergy potential are low, with no comedogenicity rating. It suits sensitive skin and the delicate eye-contour area. As a botanical extract, an individual reaction is possible though uncommon.
