Terminalia Arjuna Extract (INCI: Terminalia Arjuna Extract) comes from the bark of an Indian tree rich in tannins and polyphenols. In cosmetics it is added as a plant-derived antioxidant and conditioning ingredient, usually in formulas aimed at firmness and even tone. On efficacy, let's be honest. The bark shows measurable antioxidant activity in the lab, but human skin data are thin. This is a supporting ingredient, not an active with the solid evidence base of a retinoid or vitamin C. The firmness claims in marketing run ahead of what is actually proven. Applied topically it has no systemic relevance, so it can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without concern.
